Dallas Memorial Stair Climb

September 10th, 2016

The annual stair climb honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes will take on a special significance this year, following the loss of Dallas and DART police officers on July 7.

Fulfilling a promise to "never forget," first responders in North Texas will don their protective gear and climb 110 stories in Dallas' Renaissance Tower to honor the sacrifices of the 343 FDNY firefighters, 70 law enforcement officers, and 9 EMTs who perished at Ground Zero on 9/11.

Each firefighter will be given a badge with a biographical sketch and name of a FDNY firefighter who gave their life on 9/11. The visual image of firefighters climbing a high-rise building in full protective gear will serve as a vivid reminder of the sacrifice, dedication and commitment required of firefighters to protect their communities around world.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event is not a race, but rather a time to honor and remember the 343 FDNY members who selflessly gave their lives, so that others might live.

Their concert is sure to be a show-stopper, so be sure to purchase your tickets now!

Autumn at the Arboretum

September 17th to November 23rd, 2016

It’s finally arrived! Welcome the change of seasons at the Arboretum's Autumn Festival named one of "America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals" by Fodor’s Travel and "One of the World’s 15 Most Breathtaking Gardens" by Architectural Digest.  This year’s Pumpkin Village will highlight the Art of the Pumpkin, Sept. 17 to Nov. 23, featuring over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash beautifully displayed by the talented horticulture team, supported by Alliance Data and Texas Instruments.

Cinderella’s carriage returns with thousands of pumpkins, hay bales and cornstalks artfully arranged throughout Pecan Grove, creating a popular photo opportunity for visitors. The gardens are bursting with over 150,000 fall blooming flowers like zinnias, impatiens, salvia and coleus which respond to cooler nights with blazing bursts of color. A myriad of activities take place throughout the garden on weekdays and weekends during the festival. This wonderful festival is a real example of how fantastic Texas is in the fall!
